The number of coronavirus deaths in Italy has increased by 727 in the past 24 hours to 13,155. The civil protection agency announced this on Wednesday.
The increase is smaller than Tuesday when 837 new deaths were reported.
The number of new infections increased by 4,782 to 110,574. That was more than Tuesday. In Lombardy, the largest seat of fire in Italy, both the number of deaths and infections grew faster, breaking the flattening trend.
The agency also reported that up to Wednesday, 16,847 people have been completely cured of the infection.
12 new patients were admitted to an intensive care unit, where 4035 people were treated on Wednesday.
Italy has the most deaths from the virus of any country in the world. The highest number of deaths in a day, 919, was reported last Friday.
