The Missing Doctor Who Treated Opposition Leader Navalny is Right Again

A doctor who treated Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny immediately after his poisoning in 2020 has been found alive after two days without a trace in a forest.

His disappearance fueled speculation that he was no longer alive and may even have been eliminated. Earlier this year, two colleagues who were dealing with Navalny in a hospital in Omsk, West Siberia, died last August. The noted Kremlin critic had been rushed there after becoming unwell during a flight.

Doctor Aleksandr Murachovsky disappeared into the forest more than 200 kilometres north of Omsk after hunting there. A massive search has been launched with detection dogs, drones and helicopters, but the man was not found.

According to local media, he eventually turned up in a village where he turned for help. According to local authorities, he is doing well but has been taken to a hospital for a check-up.

Murachovsky strongly denied in August last year that Navalny had been poisoned. He noticed problems with the metabolism. He was promoted at the end of last year. According to Western sources, the Russian secret service FSB was behind the poisoning of the now detained Navalny. Navalny is said to have been poisoned with novichok, a nerve poison from the days of the Soviet Union.

The two other doctors treating Navalni died in February and March. One specialist had a heart attack at the age of 55, and the 63-year-old colleague died of a stroke.
