The Facebook Supervisory Board Starts Just Before US Elections

The new committee to deal with inappropriate content on Facebook, also known as the “Facebook Supreme Court,” is set to open in mid-October.

That’s right before the US presidential election.

The launch of Facebook’s new body was initially planned for last year. According to the platform, the start has been delayed due to the corona pandemic.

Board member Alan Rusbridger said he did not know if the committee will review cases related to the election.

The Supervisory Board consists of approximately 40 members and has the final say on sensitive matters regarding the possible withdrawal of messages.

They can also make recommendations to Facebook to adjust the policy based on statements. The company will respond publicly to this.
