US President Joe Biden paid a visit to soldiers injured in the attack in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Thursday.
Biden visited wounded servicemen at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Bethesda, the White House said in a statement.
Biden was accompanied by his wife Jill during his visit. On Sunday, Biden and his wife also attended a ceremony at a military base, commemorating the 13 American soldiers who died in the attack.
The president said last week that he had “some awareness” of the loss felt by the families. He was referring to the loss of his son Beau Biden, who served in the army and later died of brain cancer. He was cared for at Walter Reed Hospital for a long time.
“You feel like you’re being sucked into a black hole; there’s no way out,” Biden said. “I feel your pain.”
