North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has intervened in the construction of an important hospital.
He found “serious problems” during an inspection, according to state media, and fired the project managers.
Kim had identified the construction of the hospital in Pyongyang as a top priority earlier this year.
The prestige project is to be completed before the 75th anniversary of its Workers’ Party in October.
South Korean media reports that according to observers, the question is whether that will succeed. The pandemic and the sanctions against the Kim regime would make it difficult to get supplies from abroad.
When he visited the construction site, the dictator was not at all satisfied with the approach of the construction committee.
According to him, the project was meant to help the people, but ordinary citizens would be “saddled” with demands that they provide “assistance” during construction.
