At least 102 civilians have been killed in the first days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United Nations has reported. Seven children are among the victims. The number of injured has risen to 403.
UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet reports that most people have been killed by “explosive weapons”.
These include victims of heavy artillery shelling and air raids. She fears the actual numbers are “significantly higher.”
More than 422,000 people have fled Ukraine since Thursday. Most refugees seem to be moving to Poland, where huge queues have formed at the border posts.
