In Germany, 1,510 cases of corona infection were added. According to figures from the health institute RKI, 40 percent of the infections in the past week now come from abroad.
The latest count of over 1,500 cases represents a quarter of the peak of the distribution at the beginning of April. Then 6,000 infections were detected in 24 hours.
After that, the numbers decreased steadily until the end of July. Wednesday was the highest number of registered infections since May 1, when 1,639 cases were identified.
More and more returning holidaymakers in Germany are being tested. Partly because of this, their share in the total number of established cases is increasing sharply.
According to the RKI, 40 percent of the cases means a doubling compared to the previous week.
Bosnia, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Croatia and Turkey are countries from which the coronavirus is likely to be ‘brought in’ frequently.
