In the United States, half of all adults have now been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to data from the US health service CDC, the 50 percent mark was crossed on Tuesday.
More than 61 percent of adult Americans have had at least the first dose of vaccine. This number is considerably higher among elderly people.
About 85 percent of the over-65s have had at least one injection, nearly three-quarters of them also the second if it was still needed.
In the US, in addition to Moderna and BioNTech / Pfizer, Janssen’s vaccine developed in Leiden is also used. This provides adequate protection after a single injection.
The Pfizer preparation can now also be administered to young people from the age of 12 in the US.
