The French national football team will thank the fans in Paris on Monday evening. The losing finalist of the World Cup will probably choose the Place de la Concorde as the location instead of the Champs-Élysées, where a parade would have been if he won the final battle.
“They want to thank their fans. They chose this Place together with the French Football Federation,” said Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera at Radio France International.
France lost the World Cup final 4-2 to Argentina on penalties under the watchful eye of President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. The team will fly back to France on Monday, where Didier Deschamps’ team is expected at the beginning of the evening.
Macron will receive the French selection in January, Oudéa-Castera announced. “The President of the Republic will thank you and congratulate you.” Immediately after the final, the president spoke comforting words in the dressing room. “I am proud of you,” he said.
