Flights were Cancelled at Istanbul Airport on Tuesday Due to Heavy Snowfall

Also, due to the heavy snow, many flights will be cancelled at the Turkish capital, Istanbul airport. The flights were initially suspended until 6 p.m. on Monday, but no flights are also at the city’s largest airport.

 

According to the civil aviation authority, the runways of the international airport are still closed due to weather conditions. Turkish Airlines reports that there are also disruptions at the smaller Sabiha Gokcen airport, on the other side of the city, as authorities have imposed restrictions.

Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya has banned the use of private vehicles because of the snow. Snowblowers are at work clearing snow and ice. According to the media, many people had to spend the night in their cars.

It is also snowing in the tourist areas of Bodrum and Antalya. According to the weather forecast, it would snow even more in the Istanbul and Anatolia regions.
