Chemicals Group BASF Stops Activities in Russia and Belarus

The German chemical group BASF is closing its existing activities in Russia and Belarus because of the war in Ukraine.

The group goes a step further than the decision in March to suspend all new investments in the two countries.

BASF, which produces and sells more than 9,000 chemical raw materials and semi-finished products, expects to close its operations in Russia and Belarus by July.

The company will continue its activities that support food production in both countries. BASF is doing this because the war threatens to unleash a global food crisis.
