Canada may allow fully vaccinated foreign travellers into the country by early September, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday in a meeting with the prime ministers of Canadian provinces.
The condition is that the current trend in vaccination coverage continues and public health does not deteriorate. Fully vaccinated travellers from the US are already welcome in Canada in mid-August under the same conditions.
Earlier on Thursday, Canada said it would allow significant cruise ships again from November if the Covid-19 pandemic has faded by then. A condition for this relaxation is that the ships meet the health requirements.
About 78 percent of Canadians age 12 or older have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, 44 percent are fully vaccinated.
