California Fire Records Fall in Wind and Drought

One of the fires in the US state of California has become the largest in the area in the modern history of the US state.

The fire in Mendocino County in the north of the state has devastated an area of 1906 square miles.

This pushed a 2018 fire from “first place” in the list of twenty most massive wildfires. Six of the dozens of fires now raging in the state are among those twenty.

In California, 14,000 firefighters are fighting 29 wildfires. They have also destroyed a record area of 12.5,000 square kilometres of nature.

At least ten people were killed in the fire.
