US President Biden leaves for Europe on Wednesday for a week. It will be his first foreign trip as president. His wife, Jill comes along.
“This journey will underscore the American commitment to bringing the world’s democracies together to set the rules of the 21st century, defend our values and address the world’s greatest challenges,” the White House said of the visit…
At the beginning of their trip, the president and the first lady meet American soldiers in Suffolk, Great Britain. Biden will also meet with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson near Cornwall on Thursday. The summit of seven leading industrial states (G7) will take place there from Friday to Sunday.
Biden is also expected to speak separately with leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel. At the end of their visit to Great Britain, the American president and first lady will be received by Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday at Windsor Castle near London.
On Monday, Biden will attend the NATO summit in Brussels, where a meeting with European Union leaders is scheduled the following day. Biden’s much-anticipated summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to take place in Geneva next Wednesday. After that, the American president returns to Washington.
